Biography
Hello, and welcome to my blog.
A bit about me. I have been geeking the I.T., media and communications industries for over twenty years. Currently, I am involved with several mobile value-added service (VAS) providers, the biggest of which is Chikka. Previously, I was Chief Technology Officer of Next Century Partners (NCP), a private equity management firm, where, aside from old world investments, we incubated new economy start-ups, which I am now involved with.
I decided to blog about the mobile industry, well, because: 1) no industry insider has done so yet--not from the world's text messaging capital anyway; and 2) aside from call centers and other mind-numbing BPO services, mobile is one space where the world looks at the Philippines with genuine interest, for industry trends, insights, and pioneering achievements. So while some of my posts may be local in context, I too shall think globally, and strive to share insights with universal relevance.
My background is quite diverse. Click on my Linked In profile to the left, to the left, for a brief look. What you won't find there, though, are the countless meager-paying jobs that I have taken on--from being a TV sportscaster, radio announcer, jingle composer, event emcee, voice talent, copywriter, editorial cartoonist, photojournalist, patent author, ringback tone producer/director, recording engineer, microfilm librarian, to being an applications developer. And then there were the pro-bono gigs, which are too plentiful to list. Orphanage clown, anyone?
